10 Reasons to become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!
So what are you waiting for? Right now is the best time to join the Stampin’ Up! family. The demonstrator kit is valued at $335.00. But right now there is a discount and you can sign up for $169.00! Starting a business for under $200.00 - that’s unheard of these days, and especially with the way the economy is right now, there is NO better way to help supplement your income while doing something that you enjoy & love! If you still are questioning whether this is something for you...take a look at the descriptions below. They may help you understand that there are many type of demonstrators out there!
Stampin’ Up! needs all types of Demonstrators!
What kind of demonstrator would you be?
DISCOUNT DEMONSTRATOR: Likes the idea of buying stamps for personal use at a discount and will occasionally get orders from friends and family and share her discount or make a little bit of money she can turn around and buy more supplies with.
HOBBYIST DEMONSTRATOR: Loves to stamp and create. Enjoys being around other people that are crafty. Enjoys doing workshops, or holding classes, or clubs, and likes meeting new people, earning money while doing it, but only when it’s convenient for you, helps you, or fits into your schedule. You really like Stampin’ Up’s merchandise and would like to start collecting a lot of items for your own personal use!
SHORT-TERM DEMONSTRATOR: Sells for a short period of time to earn a specified amount of money needed or supplement the families income for awhile until a goal is reached, or circumstances are better.
SEASONAL DEMONSTRATOR: Works hard at the business during September, October, and November doing workshops, classes or clubs for seasonal money and maintains minimum sales during the rest of the year. . Or holds classes once a month for Seasonal/Holiday Ideas for her customers, family, and friends so she can get supplies at discounts and have the opportunity for Pre-Order and bulk specialty items.
STAY AT HOME MOM (or Dad) DEMONSTRATOR: Wants to be a business owner who can work from home and still take care of their family, set their own hours, be flexible, and enjoy the benefits from being a business owner and make some extra money, but can still be a full time parent . If you can think of (5) friends that you can form a group with (think other stay at home moms who may need an outlet for their creative endeavors) and they can commit to spending $30.00 a month on SU! merchandise, and they would enjoy seeing a demonstration and making items, then this is for you!
CAREER DEMONSTRATOR: Views Stampin’ Up! as a viable business with long term career potential; pursues management and wants to move up the career ladder; regularly attends Stampin’ Up! events, and has developed close relationships with other demonstrators; works at her business in a consistent manner; achieves monetary awards and FREE merchandise for her efforts; is recognized at convention; loves meeting new people and is not afraid to approach someone about her business.
MY STORY
I started as a Discount Demonstrator, only wanting to get the discount on the items I wanted and sharing the discount with my mom and sisters. Then when my husband lost his job I would have been classified between a Short Term and a Hobbyist Demonstrator. Because I loved what I enjoyed as a hobby, I started sharing it with my friends to help my families monetary challenges. When our circumstances got better, I found that I truly LOVED what I did and sharing my passion for creating works of art with others...and I became more of a Stay at Home Demonstrator, earning extra money that I could spend on pedicures, trips, lunches out with my friends, etc. Then the last year or so, realizing my kids were older and didn’t require me as much, I felt the need to pursue the Career Demonstrator. I started out slowly with this endeavor, but have enjoyed the process and rewards. It also comes in handy when you have a child going off to college in the Fall! I love attending conventions and getting rejuvenated with new ideas, seeing new products before they are even out on the market, meeting other demonstrators from all around the world, and simply creating works of art from the heart, and touching someone‘s life by just sending a homemade card in the mail!
As you can see by my story, I have experience being five out of the six types of demonstrators above! I’d love to give you more details and information on how I created a viable business from just starting slow and setting goals!
Do you have questions about being a demonstrator? I’d love to meet one on one with you and answer all your questions. I LOVE being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. I love networking with my friends that are demonstrators and getting together to work on projects, sharing ideas with one another, and just being there for each other. I’d LOVE it if you would be a member of my team and join the SU! family, so if your interested or just thinking about - let me know and I’ll give you a packet and a DVD you can watch to learn more!
Thanks for letting me share my story with you & Happy Stamping!

Tuesday's Tool or Technique...
Today I'd like to share one of my all time favorite tools...PUNCHES. They are a quick and easy way to add interest, dimension, and color to your cards, tags, and scrapbook pages. You can glue punched shapes directly onto your projects or layer a sheet of card stock that has been punched over a coordinating card stock for a reverse effect. There are so many options with punches! At first it may seem like an exspense to purchase our punches, but it is an investment of your time and your money. Punches can be a great way to add interest to a card, give direction to a scrapbook page, and help create a cute project that the recipiant is sure to love and admire for years to come. Punches can create simple (1) layer dimesion, or by layering some of our punches, you can create a dimensional 3-D embellishment for your page, card, or project. This is a 3-D flower made by using the 5 Petal Flower Punch, cutting the punched image and layering them. The small flower in the middle is from the Boho Blossom Punch. This image has my watermark, but credit must be given to my friend Sue Brown for sharing this idea with me!
This is an example of a card using the Scallop Square punched thru DSP (Designer Series Paper) to create a mat with your stamped image peeking thru. I also used the same punch, along with the circle punch to create an image at the bottom of the card.
By just adding the spiral Punch to the edge of this card, it gave it a completed look & feel...just another element that appeals to the eye, and gives a simple card a great look!
HAPPY STAMPING,

April Club Demonstrations...
Hi Stampers!
Here are the items I demonstrated this month in our club meetings, we missed a few of you this month, and also wanted to share with you what we did. CLICK on any of the pictures to get a close up!
This is a picture of this months gift that each club member received.
I used the Boho Backgrounds Set, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Teal Ribbon, and and a Ribbon Slide. I demonstrated this card in both groups -
This card was made using the Soft Summer Set from the current mini catalog. I embossed directly on the card with White Embossing Powder and the White Craft Pad. I applied pastel chalks directly to the embossed image. After the chalk was applied, I ran my Adhesive Remover over the top to lighten the chalks for a soft effect. I used the new Scallop Oval Punch and the Large Oval Punch for our greeting. The final touch was a piece of Pink Pirouette Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. I demonstrated this page in both groups -
This was a fun page to make! I took a 12x12 piece of Kraft CS and on the bottom I ran the Jumbo Wheel "Friendly Words" across it in Chocolate Chip. Then I applied strips of paper from the the Designer Series Specialty - Parisian Breeze, adding a piece of 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon. (It's such a beautiful paper!) Then on the top I used the set Baroque Motifs and stamped the flourish in Chocolate Chip Ink. I then cut a circle out of another piece of Parisian Breeze DSP. Then I cut a smaller circle out of the larger one leaving me with just an outline of the circle. I used a piece of Baja Breeze CS for my mat and also cut a smaller circle for my journaling spot. (Half of the circle is under the mat. You could cut the circle in half and line it up directly on the side of your mat if you wish. I di not because I used the Cutter Kit to distress the edges of my mat and the were not straight, so I used the whole circle. I then stamped the "Cherished" in Baja Breeze Ink. Finally I added a small embillishment on the bottom. I used a stamp image from the Baroque Motifs set again and stamped it on Vanilla in Chocolate Chip Ink. I sponged the sides of it and the four sides of my 12x12 piece. I then backed it on another small piece of the Parisian Breeze DSP and took a small piece of Chocolate Chip CS and used the Spiral Punch to add another element to the back of this piece. A half back pearl from the Pretties Kit was used in the center of this embellishment to finish the page.
I demonstrated how to make a Box In A Bag to both groups -
I used the Sunshine Garden Scrapbook Kit for it. I have posted the step by step tutorial on the blog so you could all see how to make this again.
I showed these to both groups -
I did not demonstrate these, I just shared these. Also out of the Sunshine Garden Scrapbook Kit I used papers and stickers to cover some medium sized clothespins I bought at Michaels.
These are great for holding cards, notes, or reminders!
I demonstrated this page for the Scrapbook Club -
This is a "No-Stamp Five Minute Page". Everything I used came from the Sunshine Garden Scrapbook Kit except for the 5/8" vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon and the dimensionals.
This is a close up so you can see the layered centers of the flowers. Just use dimesionals or pop-up glue dots to achieve this.
This was the card that the Card & Project Club made for their Make-N-Take this month -
We used the Cheep Talk set, So saffron DSP, Earth Element Brads, Flower Brads, and the 1" Circle Punch. This idea came directly from my upline and friend, Sue Brown. Thanks Sue!
This is the inside of the card. The two scallops are held together with a brad so that it just twists open!
This was the Make-N-Take 12x12 page for the Scrapbook Club members -
I wanted to stick with the same idea as above, so we made a page that hid the journaling area so special notes could be written and hidden! We used the Cheep Talk Set & Good Morning Sunshine & So Saffron DSP.
This is a close up of the front of the journaling area.
And this picture shows the front flipped to gain access to the journaling area.
HAPPY STAMPING,
KENDRA

TUTORIAL: Box In A Bag
Hi Stampers!
As promised, here is the tutorial for the Box In A Bag that I demonstrated this month and was our "On Time" drawing prizes. This is the sample I demonstrated using the Sunshine Garden Simply Scrappin' Kit. This is the sample one that was for our "On Time" drawings. I made these back in March and all the tutorial pictures are of this sample. There are lots of step by step instructions for you to complete this project with ease. Have FUN!
This is just a picture of some of the items you will need. Further explanations for each item are below. These are the punches you will be needing. If you do not have these punches, just make adjustments to your project.
These are the tools that you will be needing for this tutorial;
Crop-A-Dile, Adhesive, Paper Piercer, and Pop Up Glue Dots. You will also need Red Sticky Tape (not pictured).
Start with an 8 1/2 x 11" piece of CS (cardstock).
Cut to 4"x4".
(For a bigger box or smaller box cut a different size square, and make adjustments to the rest of your papers accordingly.)
For the purposes of this tutorial, I made pencil marks where I scored the paper so it would show up in the pictures. I scored the 4"x4" piece of CS at 1" on all four sides.
Then fold in on all four sides and use a bone folder if needed to make sharp creases in your CS.
Then on two of the sides opposite each other, your going to take a pair of scissors and cut straight lines in to create your tabs (the next picture may help you visualize this better).
Now turn it over and place a piece of red sticky strip on all four tabs.
Fold up your box and secure your tabs in place.
Cut a piece of DSP (Designer Series Paper) 10"x4 1/2".
Put sticky strip on the bottom of the patterned side of DSP that you do not want to show.
Now flip it over and put a piece of sticky strip on the left hand side.
Peel the sticky strip from the bottom of your DSP.
Lay your box right in the far right bottom corner and line it up.
Start to wrap your box with the DSP being careful to line up straight.
This is what it should look like right as you get towards the end. Use your adhesive and put some on the far left hand side.
Now cut a piece of contrasting DSP - 10"x2". Or if you are using a Simply Scrappin' Kit, you can use some of the stickers around the bottom as shown in one of the samples at the top of this tutorial.
Now use your scallop edge punch on one side of your 2"x10" strip. (I just realized I didn't include this punch in the pictures of the punches needed above - sorry!) If you do not have this punch, you could free-hand a wavy border by just using regular scissors or if you have a pair of fiskers you could use those. If you have our tearing edge ruler, you could also use that!
This is what your strip should look like when done being punched.
Now take your Round Tab punch and punch out two.
Take the Five Petal Flower punch and punch out one in DSP.
And also punch one out in a coordinating CS. just set your flowers aside for the time being.
Put some adhesive or red sticky tape on the back side of the DSP you are using and line it up with the bottom of your box.
Put some adhesive on the wrong side of your Round Tab punches and carefully aline in the center of your bag.
You will need two silver eyelets.
Using your Crop-A-Dile set the eyelets.
Now take the two flowers you punched out and put adhesive on the backside of one of them, and layer them.
Take a Corduroy Button Brad that will match your DSP and using the paper piercer, pierce a hole and put the brad through the hole, but don't open yet. If you do not have Corduroy Button Brads, you could substitute another regular or rhinestone brad here.
Punch one Scallop Circle out of coordinating CS. Use paper piercer to punch a hole through the center and now attach your flower piece poking the brad through the scallop circle. Open up the prongs now and flatten.
This is what your completed flower should look like. If you are using a Simply Scrappin' Kit - layer some stickers and attach in the same fashion.
Take your flower (or other embellishment) to your Pop Up Glue Dots and put one on the center back of your embellishment.
Now you have a completed Box In A Bag! Great Job. Now anytime you need a last minute gift holder and don't have anything on hand, you can quickly make one of these. Just adjust the size for the gift it must contain.
