ROCK -N-ROLL TECHNIQUE
1] Tap stamp on light-colored ink pad.
2] Press edges of stamp in a rolling motion on darker ink pad, being careful not to ink the center of the stamp.

QUICK TIP - Always use the lightest colored ink first to avoid getting dark ink on your light ink pad.

This card shows the actual circle image using the Rock-N-Roll method. It's EASY, It's QUICK, and It's a GREAT WAY to achieve another great look with your stamps...so try the Rock-N-Roll technique on a card or scrapbook page today.

Switching it up a little!

So this was the Make-N-Take card from my Card & Project group for March.

This is what it looks like when you swing the top up.

So I got to playing this weekend with some leftover pieces and wanted to do some birthday cards. So I made a girl & boy birthday card to share with you all.

This is the inside of it. In all of these cards - you can slip money or a gift card inside the pocket under the greeting.

This is my boy card. I love these colors together; Kraft, Certainly Celery, & Pacific Point. The black and white grosgrain ribbon and black brad complete the look.

Directions:

Cut Kraft CS - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Cut the Certainly Celery CS - 3 1/4" x 4 1/4", and the Pacific Point CS - 2 3/4" x 4 1/4". Then stamp Certainly Celery CS as desired. Scallop the top of the Pacific Point Piece. I used the white gel pen to add some detail around the edges. Then Cut a piece of Whisper White CS - 2" x 3" and stamp as desired. Layer that onto a piece of Barely Banana CS - 2 1/4" x 3 1/4". Add some ribbon and your brad to hinge your card together. When you adhere your Certainly Celery CS to your Kraft CS, MAKE SURE to only put adhesive on (3) sides and start 1/2" down on each of the sides to make sure that your Pacific Point CS will layer behind it without getting stuck on adhesive!

HAPPY STAMPING!

Fridays "Stamp Set" Spotlight...

Today's "Stamp Set" Spotlight is on this set called - Seeing Spots.
This set is found on page 108 in the current SU! catalog. It is a set of (6) and costs $16.95. I have had my set for several, several years now, and I can always turn to this set for a classy and quick card. I also invested in the matching Classy Brass Seeing Spots Template at the same time I bought the set. With this template, I have been able to create many pages, cards and projects using the technique - "Dry Embossing". It is a beautiful technique that you acheive using the template and a stylus to emboss the paper by making impressions on the backside of your cardstock. Very easy technique - call me if you'd like to learn more about it. Below are several examples I've made using this set. However, the pink and brown spinner card I received in a swap a couple of years ago. I hope you enjoy these samples and this set spotlight.
HAPPY STAMPING!

March's Workshop Cards, Projects and Pages Demonstrated...

Bunny Box - Another Easter Treat for You -

Isn't this just the cutest bunny box. My friend, Karen, another SU! demonstrator came over and shared this idea with myself and a few other demonstrators when we got together for a "Shoe Box Swap" and lunch at my house. It is really easy to put togehter and thought I'd share the idea with you all so that you had another idea for Easter - which by the way is only 17 days away!

So start with a piece of CS (Cardstock) 6"x6". Score it at 2" & 4" and then turn it and score again at 2" & 4". Fold on score lines.

Then Carefully cut 1 " away from the left and right hand middle sections.

Then using a ruler or paper trimmer, draw a diagonal line in each of the four corner squares. Then carefully with scissors - cut those corners off so that your 6"x6" piece looks like the picture below.

Then using red sticky tape, place strips down like in this picture. Then peel the red sticky tape from the left hand bottom portion, and adhere that to the middle small piece making sure that your pieces match up on the bottom so that your box will stand straight. Then peel the red sticky tape from the right side and overlap that on top of what you just did. Repeat on the other side, to form your box. (see picture below of how box looks after adhering the flaps)

Then cut a piece of CS 1"x7" , and a piece of DSP that matches your CS - 3/4"x7". Put adhesive/snail/glue on the back of the DSP (Designer Series Paper). Then adhere that to the middle of your CS for your handle for your basket.

Put red sticky tape at the bottom of each end of your handle no more than 1/2" up from the bottom, because you don't want it to show where your box flaps cross over, because this is the lowest area on your box. Then adhere handle to your box.

In this picture I forgot to adhere the handle for you to be able to see. But I did want to stick this picture in the tutorial so that you could see how the flaps of your box overlap each other, and you could see what I meant by the lowest point of your box. (where it comes to the V shape)

Then you will need the following for your actual bunny's bottom;
(1) Barely Banana Scallop Circle
(1) 1 3/8" Circle from Whisper White
(2) Small Ovals from Whisper White
(2) Small DSP Ovals Cut by hand a bit smaller so they layer nicely
(1) White Pom Pom
(1) piece of Ribbon to match your box. (I used 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon) in an 8" length

Assemble your bunnies bottom/backside, and attach to box. You could use red sticky tape, hot glue, or pop up glue dots.

This is a picture of how I made toes on the bunnies feet just using a Pretty In Pink Marker.

Then put everything together for this CUTE box. Add some treats to it for that someone special!

Happy Stamping,
Kendra

Tuesday's Tool or Technique...

In my whole life of stamping, I have only had one rubber stamp crack. It was one of my absolute favorite stamps and I used it alot. It was the second one I ever bought (back when SU! sold individual stamps - I know, I know, that ages me), but I never really learned how to take care of my stamps when I first started, and I would just stamp off the ink on paper until it was gone. After that happened - I knew that I needed to take care of my supplies, especially if I was investing money into my hobby. Everyone wants their items to last a very, very long time. Well after years of stamping the ink off, then using baby wipes (and not having a baby in diapers anymore), I noticed what my friend and demonstrator, Sue Brown, was using. It was the Stampin' Scrub #102642 -$16.95 and the Stampin' Mist Stamp Cleaner #102394 -$4.50. I have NEVER had another problem since then with my stamps. The stampin' Mist keeps the rubber soft and supple so that they won't crack. I love how my Stampin' Scrub can get off even the thick craft inks. I can honestly say that I LOVE these two items and consider them to be two off my best tools!
Happy Stamping,
Kendra

Computer Problems!

Don't you just HATE computer problems! I do. I've become so dependant on my computer to do my banking, bill pay, business, and of course my blogging. So when my computer gets sick - I get a big headache! So my appologies to you all. I actually took the opportunity to do a couple projects and demonstrate them for you with pictures. I'll get those posted today or tomorrow. I still haven't attempted the video yet, but it's on my list to try. Thanks for being patient while my computer got fixed.
Happy Stamping,
Kendra

An Early Easter Treat

Here's an idea for you for Easter. I thought they were so cute when I received one in a swap last year from another demonstrator, Grace, that I knew that I'd make them in future years. So for my March Club get togethers - this is what I made all the gals. They've been a hit so far...so thought I'd share just how easy they are to make.

These are the items you will be needing for this project...(1) miniture Kit-Kat Bar, a piece of DSP cut 4"x6", (2) Close to Cocoa Large Ovals punched out, (2) DSP Small Ovals punched out, (1) 1 3'8" Close to Cocoa Circle punched out, (2) 1/2" Creamy Caramel punched circles, (2) 6mm wiggly eyes (I have the 5mm pictured because I ran out of the 6mm. I personally think the 6mm look better than the 5mm), (1) White Pom Pom, (1) Bow, and a small piece of Whisper White with a black line drawn down the middle for the teeth.

This is just a close up of all the small supplies. Also when you get the small ovals of DSP adhered to the Large Ovals, score one diagonally so that the ear can fold over a little.

This is just a picture of the front of the bunny. Wrap your DSP around your Kit-Kat Bar and adhere with red sticky tape to hold it closed. Then put your bunnies face and ears together. I adhered all the pieces with glue for a strong fix. The ribbon and the tail on the back are put on with hot glue however.

Just a quick picture of the back of the wrapped candy bar. Have fun making these - your family and friends will LOVE them!

Tuesday's Tool or Technique...

Heat Embossing
&
Emboss Resist

Today I thought it would be fun to review the technique for Heat Embossing. Try it on a page, card or even a project!
Technique A: Heat Embossing

1] Place your card stock in a Powder Pal tray or over a large piece of scratch paper.
2] Rub the Embossing Buddy across the card stock you want to emboss. This keeps the embossing powder from sticking anywhere but on the ink.
3] Stamp the image with Craft, VersaMark, or embossing ink.
4] Pour powder onto the inked image, making sure that the image is coated completely.
5] Shake off excess powder into the tray and funnel it back into the container.
6] Heat the stamped image only until the powder changes to a shiny liquid and rises.
7] Allow embossed image to cool.

Technique B: Emboss Resist
1] Follow steps 1-7 above, using Stampin' Emboss clear embossing powder.
2] Apply ink with a sponge directly to the paper over and around the embossed image.
3] Wipe the embossed image with a tissue to remove the excess ink.
QUICK TIP - Avoid overheating the powder and burning the paper when working with a heat tool.

PLAYING CATCH UP ON THIS WEEKS POSTS...

I missed this weeks posts. I have had a nasty bout with Bronchitis and have been in bed! So I'm now playing catch up for the week.
SO HERE ARE THE COLOR THROW DOWN CHALLENGE, TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK, AND SET SPOTLIGHT FOR YOU.

TUESDAY'S TOOL OR TECHNIQUE...

This past week I wanted to highlight a technique that I love doing...Watercoloring! I enjoy water coloring and the many effects you can acheive with it. Here is a short video that will introduce you to watercoloring or give you experienced watercolors some helpful hints. Enjoy!

Some Sample Cards using the Water Coloring Technique...

COLOR THROW DOWN CHALLENGE...

This weeks color throw down challenge was difficult for me because of having to pair up the Tempting Turqoise with the Elegant Eggplant and the green I chose, Cetainly Celery. I'll be honest...I love Tempting Turqoise, but it's not a color I use often. I hope you like what I came up with.

The set I used is "Seeing Spots" on page 108 in the catalog and sales for $16.95. It is a very versitile stamp set and I have enjoyed using it over the years. The papers I used were; Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery, Tempting Turqoise, and Whisper White. The Inks I used were; Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery, and Tempting Turqoise. Accessories; 1/4" White Grosgrain Ribbon, Ice Circle Rhinestone Brads, Mat Pack & Paper Peircer, Distressor Tool from the Cutter Kit.

FRIDAY'S "STAMP SET" SPOTLIGHT...

This weeks Spotlighted Set is called - "Bitty Birthday" and can be found on page 39 in the catalog. It is a set of (4) stamps and sales for $12.95. This was a fun set to crank out about 35 birthday cards for our teachers at church. My friend Sheila came over and we had them all done in about an hour and a half!
